the big chill

rowley surfing Read on

eek…winter has arrived and it’s 5:30am so i’m procrastinating from getting out of the warm bed to go surfing…yaaaaawn! :) buggrit. much easier just to go get wet and be done with it. i love you long weekend.

narcissus & goldmund

north sydney beach wedding what if all the world were paper bear and nath

back from holidays, back from nathan’s wedding, but not yet back to reality :)

it’s been a really good break, and whilst i can’t quite yet say i am sane again and all is well in the church of bear, i’ve certainly come a long way. as usual, nath swept in with a clean strain of logic without even meaning to. certainly a great man and i hope that he and flick have the most awesome life together!

the last week has coincided with reading narcissus & goldmund - a recommendation from michie that i’ll now pass on to everyone else. it’s a great book that tells a beautiful story and certainly sits well etc. etc. not quite the pirsig revelation but certainly something i can sympathise with. served as a healthy catalyst for some internal assessment which is always good.

it’s falling out as a rather bleak post…that wasn’t the original intention. the actual intention was to say that i had an awesome time off and thanks to all who made it so tops.

some music (of mine) will be making its way onto the interweb again soon; i’ve been tapping away at a few new tracks which will be helped along by my new drum kit purchase ;) anyway, i’ll put it up sometime soon.

goat’s gin

officially living the dream right now. my so called ‘quiet’ weekend turned into a multi-day festival of awesome. in the past 48 hours i’ve been surfing, fishing, wake boarding and scuba diving. i have rediscovered muscles long dormant; and even discovered a few new ones. all of them hurt. :)

but it’s been amazing. jg did such a great job of being his usual jg-ness to organise the whole thing. fucking spectacular. whoo. thanks mate.

there’s a third load of washing spinning around next door. scientests worldwide should be commended.

these may seem like two unrelated statements, until i proceed to further inform you that there had been a green ink pen spinning and churning around in there with a full load of clothes for the last half hour, and not a single drop of ink spilled.

just you try and tell me that they aren’t frickin’ magicians.

latency

…is #2 on the recording person’s hitlist. number 1, i feel, is white noise.

the level of respect i have for people who multilayer record and produce has just reached astronomical levels. in lieu of the ever increasingly crappy surf, the yamba kitchen has morphed into a tangled wilderness of cables, coffee mugs, mixing boards and laptops in an attempt to lay down some tracks. so far all i’ve managed to do is frustrate myself to no end and consume larger than estimated quantities of chocolate. bugger :)

chai tea break!

mexicantastic

well, the dream run of surf has finally subsided after 2 weeks of reasonably good conditions - today and yesterday have been pretty much flat. i’ve managed to counter this by sitting in cafes eating banana bread and drinking coffee whilst working on some music with adam. pretty enjoyable. also managed to sit through my first ever F1 grand prix on tv…wasn’t too bad. :)

otherwise i’ve got 3 more days down here in yamba before heading back to brisneyland for a day of work and then further holidaying, before i head down to sydney for nath mccallum’s wedding, and some north sydney surfing. should be great! perhaps some french film festival in the middle there…not sure yet.
