10 years of spunk

i seem to have developed the rather annoying and useless habit of becoming smitten with touring backing musicians who have less than 12 hours left in the country.

i must say this is a rather pointless mental exercise, and i’m not entirely sure what point my psychy is trying to make in doing so.

tonight’s target of unbridled momentary affection was the cello player for jens lekman; a cute little swedish (?) thing with fluttery eyes. oh dear.

so i went to the spunk 10 year anniversary gig down in bangalow, about 2 hours south of brisbane. quite frankly i’ll take any excuse at the moment to take a day off work midweek. shocking work ethic at present. terrifying in fact.

but the gig; wow. the gig was amazing. just 2 weeks after the sufjan implosion, i find myself in a beautiful country town hall surrounded by like minded shoe gazers listening to a line up of no less than jack ladder, holly throsby, joanna newsom, andrew bird, jens lekman and spoon. not a single performer i didn’t adore. i am so warm and squishy right now.

surf tomorrow and the day off work…it only gets better!
